Dongo Civils is a civil construction company specialising in asphalt and tarmac projects. Formerly known as Asphalt Africa, the company rebranded to Dongo Civils in November 2021, but has been in existence since its inception in June 1993.

Our story
From Asphalt Africa to Dongo Civils
1993
Founded as Asphalt Africa
The company starts out in June 1993, specialising in asphalt and tarmac work.
1993–2021
Three decades on the road
Road construction, asphalt paving, driveways and tennis courts for municipalities and private clients, with 143+ road projects completed.
2021
Rebranded to Dongo Civils
In November 2021 the company takes the name Dongo Civils, with the same people, plant and standards.
Today
Four provinces, 60+ staff
Working across the Eastern, Western and Northern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal, hiring locally wherever we build.

Our equipment
Dongo Civils uses its own earth-moving equipment and machinery. We also enjoy good relations with leading plant and machinery hire companies, so we can complement our own fleet whenever a project calls for it.

Our people
With a staff complement of more than 60 permanent employees, and the ability to hire locals in every area where we work, we have the human capital to undertake projects of any size.

Financial strength
We enjoy a good banking relationship with FNB, giving us the financial support we need to do what we do best: asphalt and tarmac projects.

SHEQ: Safety, Health, Environment and Quality
In all our projects, occupational health, safety and environmental impact are of paramount importance. We adhere to the OHS Act and all construction health and safety regulations. Before any job we carry out a risk assessment and an environmental impact assessment, and our Quality Management System helps us deliver high-quality work. Our SHE file and QMS are available on request.
